In the same fashion marble was sculpted centuries ago, this piece was created using simple hand tools. Adapted to the 21st century, sandpaper was glued to a stick, a hammer was used in place of the more traditional chisel, and coarse file was purchased from a local hardware store. Using only these tools, a streamlined gull was created, fit to perch on a cherry cliff. Perhaps more important than the art itself, this sculpture speaks to the process; simple, persistent, and laborious love.
