David Bowie was a visionary. He had a unique way of creating ambiguity within his art, both musically and as an artist, not only by combining a ground-breaking sound with classic rock and roll, but by standing for unity peace and collaboration. A Space Oddity was created to get a visual representation of that ambiguity which can only be revealed by the marrying of technology and multimedia with traditional art mediums such as wood and paint. When viewed through a camera, it portrays the illusion of depth, which brings clarity to resolve in an iconic image of man's first moments on the lunar surface, but represents one of Bowie's greatest masterpieces, Major Tom. This song represented a time when our country was divided. Yet, within the midst of so much turmoil, a country rallied behind an idea. a belief that we could reach higher. Today, we are in need of such a hope, perhaps more so than ever. Amidst a rage of division, we need to remember that we are capable of uniting once again.
