America

D'Artagnon Little's avatar D'Artagnon Little

I am representing the artist, D'Artagnon Little. He made these pieces of materials that he was able to obtain. Each sculpture took about 10-20 hrs to complete, and is a mache of: toilet paper, soap, and water (colored using a leeching process from construction papers.) The artist did these from memory while in isolation. He is currently imprisoned in Baraga Correctional Facility in Michigan. I purchased this piece to save it from destruction. It represents the artist's conception of America. Hilary Clinton is included with the "Presidents" as a political statement. At the time of creation he felt that Hilary Clinton should be the next President. I feel this represents the indomitable, innate desire of the human spirit to create. This artist had no access, whatsoever, to any conventional materials. In isolation, he only had toilet paper, water, and soap. The construction paper, used as the colorants for the pieces were sent to him in the form of letters from a friend.
