Amongst The Waves

I was inspired to create this work while pondering the current struggles and debates between man and nature. This work represent natures struggle intertwined with humanities impact on the planet. The crashing waves portray earth’s opposition to mankinds indifference. The earth is in an uproar and the crashing waves are its backlash. Water can sooth and be still, but it can also take on any form or purpose and show its force. This work consists of four 60x48 canvases along with my chainsaw carved pier posts wave bench. Each wave expresses force and power but at the same time portrays beauty by its color and envokes curiosity of nature. Some waves are heavily textured to give you the sense that the weight of it may crash right on you. I also chainsaw carved a bench so that the viewer may sit back and contemplate. I carved the bench sides to replicate pier posts and the bench is painted with a wave. As in the words of Bruce Lee, “Water can flow or it can crash, be water my friend.”
