Dimensional Dreams

Snake & Falcon

Dimensional Dreams is a piece combining an acrylic painting with various butterfly and moth fiber art sculptures, juxtaposing the relation between space, dreams and reality. The woman in this painting occupies a dream-like landscape, sleeping serenely while surrounded by the beauty of the cosmos, the mysteries of the waters below her, the vastness of the mountain range in the distance, and the embrace of the tree that stands as a sentinel over her. She is at peace here, but dreams of winged creatures that are not present on her plane of existence. They seem outlandish and fantastical to her, and yet as they burst forth into our reality they find that they are ordinary creatures here, often overlooked . They have taken on the 3-Dimensional form that the woman longs for in her 2D confinement and cannot attain. The insects, no longer tethered to the dreamer that gave them their life spark, fly off to diverse destinations around the globe while the woman dreams on.
