Fish Fry Tonight

I'm doing some time travel with this show-stopping piece. There is some need deep inside of me to hark back to my childhood days. I had some close family losses and connecting with photo's of the Good Old Days gives me comfort and a deeper understanding of the importance of "playing as a family" and creating those precious moments! Even though my family in this piece doesn't appear to be jumping for joy with there daily catch of the day I know deep inside they were overjoyed with there results and had that fish fry they longed for! It really is a feel good piece. It is large and impressively framed in a dark wood frame. Fish Fry Tonight was created using basically one color. I wanted to create the ultimate contrast by juxtaposing the lightest and the darkest of burnt umber to create depth and give it a 3-D look as shown in my painting. I found it necessary upon completion of my piece to give the sunfish, blue gills and perch some color and I'm pleased with the outcome!
