The Weight of Time

I am an Artist, Army wife and Mom. Combat deployments affect more than just the soldier going overseas; it has a ripple affect on the entire family at home as well. My family has experienced the, “ripple” of Daddy going on a combat deployment six different times. During those six deployments there have been similarities and patterns that have emerged. One of those patterns is the feeling of TIME. This painting is a depiction of how TIME behaves differently when your soldier is in harms way. On the canvases I will have abstracted images from the war-front and home front such as a tanks, helicopters, guns, and Humvees on the top half depicting daily deployed life; and abstracted images such as a bicycle, lawnmower, flowers, guitar, etc. on the bottom half depicting life on the home front. The center of the painting where the images intersect will be representative of the struggle to stay connected as a family as you experience the Time on two different fronts.
