My inspiration was a family photograph in sepia of the Dykema family farm in old-time Michigan. The goal was to capture our industrious Dutch ancestors working their celery farm on Barry Street in Hudsonville. The barn was stately. In the distance is a glimpse of the muck fields planted with celery. The farming tradition remained in the Dykema family for several generations on these very fields through to the 1970's.
