our lockers

Our Lockers is a reflection on individuality and vulnerability in a social environment where people are asked to live or work in close proximity- places you may be assigned a "locker". This exploration is focused primarily on places where we learn to protect, label and store our possessions in a shared space. The piece is built of 4 repeated elements, each constructed of a lithographic poster, a steel frame, a canvas cradle and a ceramic piece to be tucked away. Each lithograph is pulled from the same stone, but reflects a shift in color by hand tinting. These prints operate as a label for each module. The steel fames are identical in dimension, as are the canvas supports. The individual ceramic items to be stowed are large enough to require two hands to lift, the way you would pick up a small child, yet created using molds that leave them with a nearly machined uniformity.
