Fusing principles of mosaic and collage, this piece features photographs cut into the image of a circular stain glass window. The centerpiece is the cross section of a human heart, surrounded by a corona, constructed from the photographs of tulips. Four concentric scalloped circles enclose the centerpiece, created from the photographs of flowers taken in St. Louis, Missouri, and Grand Rapids, Michigan. All photographs were taken by the artist over a ten year period. The black "frame"of the window consists of hundreds of approximately 3 mm glass cylinder beads, laid end to end to create continuous lines. Cut photographs of individual leaves envelop the window, establishing a green background. This piece comes from a place of gratitude for the abundance of life, for its beauty and for the presence of divinity within it. Whatever your beliefs may be, I hope "Grace" begins conversations and seeds creativity and new ideas. For me, grace is as inclusive as having a beating heart.
