Emma and the Apple Tree

This piece of art utilizes acrylics, oils, elements from nature, wood, resin, embedded stained glass chips, and natural stone clay. Images of a mother with her child, light reflecting on water, a field of colorful wildflowers, or scenes of ordinary people living ordinary Iives never fail to captivate me. The study of art and impressionism remain an undying passion, and I continue the lifelong process of learning various mediums and techniques. Last October, a very special friend, Melanie, sent a photograph of her small daughter in an apple orchard. From the moment I saw it, I was mesmerized. The image is a beautiful example of modern day impressionism and inspired my first-time artprize entry. Much love and gratitude to my family, Linda, Kevin, and many cherished friends at Mary Free Bed for their endless encouragement and support. Recognition and gratitude to venue host, Mr. Doug Lee, for his hard work 24/7 and generous assistance to artprize artists. A very special dedication to Megan Reynolds, whose courage, strength, and positive attitude inspire everyone around her every single day.
