Playgrounds of Opportunity: A short discussion of inequality in 100 elephants or less.

Asha Barnes's avatar Asha Barnes

This work is about wealth inequality. Each single edition bronze elephant sculpture is representative of 1% of the population. Each elephant lives in a frame composed of reclaimed or upcycled materials (hardwoods, and exotic woods). Although superficially this piece may be whimsical in many ways, it is meant to drive discussion on some of the more harsh realities of American culture. This piece takes up and area 7 feet wide, 10 feet tall and 6 inche's deep. It is composed of an outer alder frame with multiple frames on the inside.
