Hexagonaria Percarinata

Eric Le Mire's avatar Eric Le Mire

A three dimensional sculptural form rendered in mix media in order to portray the most prized Michigan stone gatherer's prize, Hexagonaria Percarinata or the Petoskey stone. Hex is executed in multiple layers of acrylic and poly resin to create a trompe l`oeil replicating the patterns and translucent nature of actual stone. Seated upon two pedestals treated with native copper verdigris, Hex is meant to create a dialogue concerning Michigan`s unique and rather exotic geological history, and our human relationship with it.
