Continuum

Continuum is the latest work in my ongoing exploration of a favorite motif, the square, and its three dimensional extension, the cube. It is the result of method and iteration, two recurring constructs in my imagery. The method here is a prescribed set of variables: Circumscribe an imaginary cube using a unit (an 8 inch steel square bar), intersected at 90 degree angles with each bar connecting to only one other bar at each intersection point. This creates a 'boundary' for what is possible. The variables are then arranged and re-arranged until a result is produced that resonates with me. With squares and cubes I will often emphasize the diagonal, which transforms a static shape into a dynamic one.
