Crank and Pulley

This is a set of seven sculptural collage works made up of acrylic paint, wire and metal pieces I found at a local recycling place. Somebody worked on these, welding, soldering, etc. and then threw them away, scrapping the metal for money. The pieces are oxidized iron and tin, with weld burns, rust and melted solder. I also found the white board panels at a local print shop that was discarding them. The panels were roughly cut as vertical pieces, each being a foot wide but with varying heights. These became the surface for mounting the work and I kept them uneven in size, some with rough cut edges. I worked on these sculpture collages using the same process as my two-dimensional paintings by working with the metal pieces and wire in an intuitive and reactionary way, placing and building them up as I went, and then adding my painting style to them.
