e·mer·gence-1. the process of coming into view or becoming exposed after being concealed. "Perhaps the butterfly Is proof that you can go through a great deal of darkness. Yet become something beautiful"-unknown My entry a series of butterfly paintings and sculptures is titled: Emergence, the theme: Chaos theory known as the "butterfly effect" will be explored. Because we all need a fresh look at life once in awhile. Making a small change can transform a struggle into something wonderful. Looking at life's struggles and finding new ways to find strength in them. Gratitude created a shift in my life at a stressful time, feeling it and expressing it to those around me. It pulled me out of a darkness. “An anxious heart and a gracious heart cannot occupy the same space.” resonated with me. This series is painted over old paintings. similarly to how a butterfly emerges from the cocoon. The butterfly sculptures are placed in and around the paintings and out the windows as if their essence emerged from the paintings. A story of emergence is told in a poem written by Julie Stenberg who translated the story in her beautiful words.
