Build, Play, Walk & Talk: a Community Labyrinth Experience

Debbie Hoskins's avatar Debbie Hoskins

The labyrinth is a tool for walking meditation. A chronological log of what happens and the reactions of the community to the labyrinth is being kept. Time-based, the piece is embracing trial and error. Is the labyrinth reflecting the experiences of the community? As a certified labyrinth facilitator, I am offering the labyrinth to walk and "holding space." In labyrinth facilitation, this term means providing unconditional support throughout the walking of the labyrinth. Encouraging families to be creative, washable chalk, bubbles, and the teaching of making balloon animals are being offered periodically throughout ArtPrize. Battery powered tea lights are being used to quiet the mood. On Oct 9, we will take up the tape, echoing the Tibetan Buddhist practice of sweeping up intricate sand mandalas to symbolize impermanence.
