With over 7.6 million companion animals entering shelters nationwide each year, my project, "300" is intended to draw awareness to this statistic. Beginning in January 2016, I have been collaborating with the Michigan Humane Society and the Humane Society of Western Michigan to photograph animals within their shelters. From my photographs, I painted 300 individual animal paintings to create a 7 1/2' x 10' canvas mosaic. "300" depicts an average number of animals the MHS & the HSWM has within their care on a daily basis, including dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens, birds, and various reptiles. The accompanying video shares my process over the past 9 months to completion.
