Painting in Place

Todd Williamson's avatar Todd Williamson

"PAINTING IN PLACE" is a multi-layered work created w 3" grids raised in the oils themselves. This piece is about social movements and how we build power together as we work towards common goals and a common vision of society. These “social movements” are expressions of desires to end oppression and injustices. This is my attempt towards building a social movement. #PAINTINGinPLACE #SocialMovement Distinct frameworks of lines and grids define my work. The works transcend the picture plane creating a depth of structure and light. Using a refined process of building and removing layer upon layer of oil on canvas, the work engages both complementary hues and opposing values while creating a story in the work itself. There is an essential sexual tension in my work that creates an exchange and dialog between the viewer and the work, surface and depth, the finite and the limitless. The news of the day being funneled through my psyche. VOTE CODE:62623
