Four Play

Although "Four Play" was just started this last December, I have been planning it for over five years. My subject matter is Nature: woodland scenes, water, skies and the like. The theme is the Four Seasons and the changing light of a single day, thus Dawn is Spring, Noon is Summer, Dusk is Fall and Night is Winter. On my website ( other large paintings will show the degree of finish I plan for this piece. Please check "Borderline", "Murder Incorporated" and "Staircase" as good examples. The entire piece will not fit on my painting wall which is only 18' long. Hence the awkward angle of the photo. When finished the three canvases will be bolted together forming one piece that is 4' high and 24' long. Important aspects of my paintings are the rhythm of the verticals and the modulations of light and dark. With these large pieces, the time it takes to walk by one is very important aspect of experiencing the work. It adds time/space to the other three dimensions.
