To Have and To Hold

The details of nature so rarely capture the heart of a viewer. A tree is mundane to the human eye and an ocean just a dreamy adventure. The waters flood with glass bottles, candy wrappers, plastic, saran wrap, and foil scrunched up from the day’s lunch. Dropping our trash into a rushing river or a collection of divine gardens is the trend of our day. I aspire to wake humanity through pen, paint, and pastels through my series, To Have and To Hold. My goal in this series of artwork is to make humanity aware of what materials can be recycled. In hopes to spare nature of the torment we force upon it, I have constructed five pieces that display recyclable objects; foil/metal, saran wrap, glass, plastic, and wrappers. Nature is the ultimate beauty and should be adorned with arts that enhance such awe, not waste. May we seek to protect the beauty around us, so we may have it to enjoy for years to come, so we may hold it in the depths of hearts. To be moved once again by an untouched world.
