In Her Place

In Her Place is a found-object assemblage piece that uses a dollhouse as a metaphor for where women fit into the fabric of society, culture, and social norms. It explores the roles and archetypes of women and the restraints these put upon the importance of the female, individual spirit. The interior explores a women's true feelings, contributions, and worth, through writing and symbolic images. There is a saying that women hold up half the sky, and some of the images on the roof, and interior are a reflection of the universal feminine energy. I hope the audience will leave with a new awareness of the struggle for women to be seen as worthy of making their own choices and life path, regardless of society's constraints.
