είκοσι χρόνια και καταμέτρηση, which I created for ArtPrize translates to "twenty years and counting" and is a reflection on the influence Greece has had on my artwork over the past twenty years. I first traveled to Greece in 1995 to work on The Ohio State University's archaeological dig at Isthmia, during which time I helped to relay the last panels of the large, monochromatic Roman bath mosaic. Two of the mosaic's central figures, a Triton and a Nereid, served as the foundation for είκοσι χρόνια και καταμέτρηση and its overall composition which ties in imagery and artifacts from my twenty years of travels and adventures in Greece. Additionally, the work stretches over twenty canvases, which correlates with the twenty years. Greece has provided me with many artistic inspiration, life changing experiences, and has helped to shape me, not only as an artist, but as an individual as well. This work, therefore, is a tribute to Ελλάδα.
