Nature's Wings

I give honor to the America’s Wild Turkey. This Artwork comprised of hand collected authentic iridescent wild turkey feathers is artfully designed to form an abstract representation of "Nature's Wings". To protect these delicate feathers, the finished piece has been mounted within a handcrafted red oak shadowbox frame, 50” wide, 38” tall and 4” deep. Wild Turkeys are intelligent, sensitive and highly social! They create lasting bonds with each other, recognize one another by their individual unique voices, and can produce over 20 different vocalizations. The distinctive male gobble can be heard a mile away! They run fast, to speeds up to 25 mph, and can fly to 55 mph. These “Jeweled Birds” were once believed sacred to ancient Mexican cultures. Even Benjamin Franklin preferred Wild Turkeys over the Bald Eagle as our National Emblem. Each individual feather has been legally collected from my property over the past 20 years. These wonderful creatures have honored me with their family stories, and allowed me to photograph them, and give them safe haven to raise their families. Turkeys Rock!
