Red Awnings, McKay Tower

Karin Nelson's avatar Karin Nelson

This piece began with a wash of burnt umber, which I purposely allowed to show through in various areas, depicting the golden effects of sunlight. The contrasting edge where the shaded side of the building meets the sunlit side of the building is an oft-repeated theme in my paintings of both urban and rural structures. Acrylic on 40" x 30" gallery-wrapped canvas.
