Siyang Ziui Chen's avatar Siyang Ziui Chen

Shy, confused, regretful, and yet hopeful. In my paintings, I sow human emotions with space and let them grow. My work seeks a balance between form and color, serenity and tension, as a means of juxtaposing correlative and conflicting compositions. Within this portrait I have chosen to portray the concealment of personal emotions, whilst I begin to let go of what is emotionally behind me. I chose to paint the concealment of my emotions as an object held tightly by the subject because I am seeking what is in front of me, a potential future held tightly though I am not sure of what it might be. Sometimes I am frustrated with this potential, like a child, because I only know what I left behind and I began to count down the time as 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. The wall is my emptiness, my barrier, my insecurity, and it represents what I can not see in front of me. The wall and my concealment of emotions form a barrier I want to pass through, hopeful to to obtain a future I can see through.
