Motor City

There is a reason for why Detroit failed, and I can fix the problem. The Motor City has never had an image of a motor, to celebrate its rich history, current entrepreneurial atmosphere, and bright future. For decades Michigan, and Detroit have driven the nations economy. Proud auto workers built vehicles that transported people and goods, the world over. In 2008, the auto industry was forced to reinvent itself in order to survive. They developed smarter, more powerful, more energy efficient V6 and 4 cylinder engines. I have chosen to create a representation of a V6 engine to be a symbol of what Detroit was, is, and will be. The "Motor City" sculpture is constructed from welded aluminum, and measures 9ft high X 12ft wide X 14ft long. It took 6 months to build. It is my hope that the "Motor City" sculpture will be a visual and thought provoking symbol, to stir the imagination of the viewer, into realizing the possibilities of what can be accomplished with creative thought, great effort, and teamwork. While the future of Detroit will be more diversified, it will continue to be a hub of the transportation industry. It will always be the Motor City. Thank you for taking the time to enjoy Artprize, and for viewing my sculpture. Go forth and create great things!
