Creation Groans

Barbara Bjelland's avatar Barbara Bjelland

The snake strangles the tree, the bird falls from the sky, the whale echoes a mournful song, and the polar bear walks alone. The hands that flung stars into space, hold them still, like an expectant mother holding her womb. This piece speaks of the fall of Creation and the sure hope of redemption. This image was created in oil paint on a round canvas, which is 40 inches in diameter.
