What happens when we love things? Does human attention change the intrinsic value or physical makeup of inanimate objects? A cherished toy. A beautiful stone found on the beach. We value these things, but they're just things -- atoms and molecules. Does a favorite stuffed animal, when lost or neglected, feel... sad? Is there a subatomic difference between a lovingly polished Petosky stone and a lump of granite on the lake bed? Is there magic? I'm exploring the relationship between two artifacts; my scooter which I built, and the Packard plant in Detroit. I've poured my love and attention into my scooter, and the Packard plant has been neglected for decades.
