100 Faces

The 100 Faces project began as I was packing to move. Knowing I would be short on time and space for creating art, I committed to doing 100 small faces as a way to keep creating through the change. What started as a daily discipline became a lifeline to my creativity. Each face was painted, drawn, or collaged onto a 3" x 3" vintage receipt torn from a 1930's office ledger book. I used a variety of media: acrylic, watercolor, gesso, stabilo pencil, ink, colored pencil, charcoal, graphite, and collage. Each face is a piece to linger over, to savor, to wonder, to enjoy. I00 Faces is a family tree of sorts, full of diversity, history, and emotion. Contemplate each face's story with wonder and delight. Where are they going? Where have they been? What are they feeling? Why? Don't be surprised to find something of your own life and family, reflected in the faces you see. May 100 Faces inspire you to remember and to cherish the feelings, the families, and the faces in your own life's story.
