This freeform fiber installation will be created with hand-dyed wool, silk, silk chiffon, wet felted and distressed suspended from the walls or ceilings using vintage metal and wooden pulleys. The installation will be site specific in the hopes that as many as 5-6 can be grouped within the space. The process of wet felting involves laying out fine layers of merino wool and silk, wetting it down with soapy water then proceeding to rub, roll and throw the fibers until the wool migrates through the silk and forms the whole cloth. In my mind and heart the project represents the thousands of women whose fabric of their being, their weakness and their strengths are held within, never finding themselves free, of domestic abuse.
