Visible Noise

Jason Myers's avatar Jason Myers

Visible Noise is an installation which contains a sculpture made of carbon steel and cast resin and a video wall comprised of 6 commercial LED panels approximately 10 feet tall. The figure emerges from the darkness and finds itself being overcome again in a 5 minute loop of my handwriting. A reflection of our struggles in life, enduring, persevering, and trying to find the connection between our soul and the world around us. Our lives are forever changing into a digital world, becoming further removed from actual human experience. Communication and most all forms of interaction are processed through a digital technology. Our advancement as individuals hinges on just how plugged in we can become. Time and space are more accurately defined in virtual terms. We find ourselves questioning the tangibility of our own senses. A digital reality, much different than the one we used to know, conjures new ideas of becoming again one with life and finding our way through this Visible Noise.
