Biomes is a series of printed glass domes, illuminated through 3D printed, sandstone bases. The domes all reference different landscapes, places we have all been, but can easily forget. The lands forgotten. Some domes are whole, while others are split, disjointing the landscapes, making them hazy as if a part of your memory, part of a system. The illuminated domes create an ethereal atmosphere. When seen from a distance, the series is a field of glowing orbs. Stars, part of a greater system. Only up close, does the viewer see the intricacies of the landscapes. They see the layered domes, the texture of the rippled glass and the enameled image in black and copper. This piece embraces new technologies and an interdisciplinary approach to techniques and materials. Biomes exudes the essence of the landscape and envelope the viewer in a muted glow.
