I started this picture near the end of 2013 after my uncle died. It was a way for me to cope with the grief that I was feeling inside. I would spend many late nights sitting and staring at this canvas trying to put my hurt on display with paint. This piece is to represent what pain can do to us. If you let it take over your life, time will pass you by and you will miss out on so much and eventually be devoured by the sadness. The old man has let his mourning take over his life. He is aged, naked, cold, alone and slowly being swallowed up by the cold lonely world around him.
