Dedicated To My Muse

Dedicated To My Muse is a kinetic sculpture made of metal and found object. The sculpture references the act of an artist in pursuit of their muse, and its role in inspiration, ideas, knowledge, and guidance. The visual style of this sculpture is similar to my 2013 ArtPrize entry. Kinetic art engages the viewer with its movement, change and sound. The sculpture is visually interesting at rest and in motion including a juxtaposition of colorful plastic toys and bare metal with exposed mechanism of gears, pulleys, axles and other machinery. Motion and color are incorporated to get attention and make the viewer wonder – what is this? While movement and found object elements hold interest, and extended observation will reveal multiple levels of meaning. Sculpture will be hung from rafter having plexiglas on two sides, to be viewable from two sides.
