Prairie

I find the wonder in nature through the small details of the plants that grow in the alley, the garden and the meadows of the prairie. It has been so easy to be enticed by the sheer color of a blossom but beyond that, there is structure and an order to the physicality of each specimen. In spring, dandelions blanket the open landscape while most homeowners decry the 'weeds' coming up in the lawn. The images I have chosen to show are some of my most surprising. The physical changes that an ordinary dandelion goes through in its growing season is in itself a wonderment to behold and sometimes, virtually unrecognizable as being the same plant species. Many of the images can actually be printed up to a fantastic eight feet tall relegating the viewer to the size of some of the insects I find crawling through the plants.
