Piano reimagined as a trotting horse

There is that moment in our life when the parameters and expectations that society has put on us since birth is surpassed by our awareness of who we are. A moment when we discover who we truly are. A moment when no outside influence has any more control over us. This kinetic sculpture demonstrates that there is beauty in all of us and it can show its form in unconventional ways. Built entirely by hand through trial and error, this is a sculpture of a horse in motion, with over thirty moving pieces and made almost entirely from two retired pianos. The horse itself is assembled from the cut, ground, sandblasted and painted pieces of the cast iron string support frame. The stand for the sculpture is the case of an upright grand piano, sanded and stained, with the interior painted flat black to showcase the golden horse.
