The Other Yellow Brick Road

Michael Michael "Hank Diaz-Leal

The Other Yellow Brick Road it started for me in 1974 as one of millions of children fascinated with the movie "The Wizard of Oz". I made a comment while the Wicked Witch of the West was terrorizing the blue sky’s again, I said to my mom, "I am sure glad she is not from around here" my mother replied "oh but she is". My mother informed me that West Michigan was the inspiration for the Wizard of Oz. I was in agony fearing the witch, and that night I had a nightmare about a run down abandon Yellow Brick Road. Twenty people of all ages and races were standing at the beginning of the road. I asked them why was everyone so scared and visibly troubled, their reply, " What’s left of the witch is waiting in puddles of her own demise for the next fresh batch of dark souls to step on the road, and to steal all the light. It will reignite her back to the sky". So observing this situation we were all paying a toll and facing judgment from the witch. The only way out was thru The Other Yellow Brick Road. This was the end of the dream, and we were left stranded in fear. Road image is from an abandoned theme park and it matched my nightmares vision..
