From a small child I have always had a fascination with Angels, celestial beings from Heaven that my mother said where here on earth to watch over us, but who watches over the Angels? In this piece “Redemption”, something that we all face in our lifetimes, whether it's a life-changing event or misspoken word that hurt someone, I deal with a fallen angel asking for forgiveness. This idea of redemption came to me as I toured the many incredible churches in Italy and felt in awe of these spiritual and incredible architectural structures. The church I chose to use was San Gregorio in Rome and at one time the Catholic seat of power before the Vatican. I decided I needed a model that had angelic face and used a dress that was dirty and ripped to shreds to show the path of the angel had chosen. I love how the image came together with the expression the model gave to the angel and the heavenly light shining on her.
