dis.par.i.ty

This is my first entry and my title for this project is “dis.par.i.ty”. The entire project is theme based, the decision rested on two factors, the first being that I had to finance the project with a limited budget and secondly, what quality of work could I produce with limited materials and tools? My panels are meant to feel like bas relief, so many textures and layers assaulting the senses. To me they represent the beautiful, cracked and imperfect world. Portraits that are gritty character studies that create the dual feelings of despair and hope. The metal and the organics seeming to rise and grow through them, or in fact in spite of them. Ask yourself, how is it possible in 2014 we live in a world that cannot collectively manage essential resources to provide nutrition, housing and healthcare for everyone?
