Sword in the Stone

Sword in the Stone based on Arthurian legend, our pop culture and the public's reaction to art and a sword they can not extract from the stone that holds it... A portion of the blade, a handle, and hilt that anyone can grab and pull to see if they are next king of the realm! set in a cast concrete base in the shape of a stone or anvil, this will be a free standing piece placed in high traffic foot paths. As the Arthurian legend is one of the best known historical stories of our culture (also one one the oldest, with Bronze age metal smiths casting swords in stone molds 3500 years ago), everyone that sees these sculptures will know exactly what to do with it – give it a pull! A study on our perception of cultural stories, an attempt to grasp our dreams and draw them forth despite the odds against us
