Beautiful Man

This piece is oil on recycled cork board. I have always experimented with different textures, be it oil on copper incorporating fibers from my sister's Michigan farm, oil on printing sheet metal, canvas or cork board. This portrait was painted on recycled cork board because the texture alludes to that of skin, hair, and fibers from his turban. People are encouraged to touch it. I plan on making bedroom sheets and sails with this image. The model was born in Liberia but is now a photographer for Calvin Klein and other clients. I painted this in two days. This painting can be mounted on the wall or supported by an easel on the floor so people can walk right up to it and touch it.
