Using the metal vessels I create I intend to explore the visual and conceptual potentials of groupings. I have always seen these pieces as metaphors for us as individuals, physical vessels creating a sacred, or spiritual space within. With groupings of vessels I am looking to present the idea that the oddball individual, or perhaps the minority, is relevant only to the context it's in. The unique element can add character, interest, or a focal point to an otherwise similar group. I am planning 3 grouping of 3 types of vessels, a light blue, simple form style; a dark brown, Whorled Flow style; a pure silver, with decorative chase work style. Each of these groupings will be dominated by one of these styles of vessel, but will have one or two additional pieces of another style. Thus each style will get represented as being both the minority and the crowd. Common to all the vessels will be a luminous golden interior, the sacred inner space.
