Color is the Universe

This triptych was created from silk neckties donated from the congregation of Plymouth United Church of Christ. Wool, felt, linen, bling and broken bits of jewelry were added for a dimensional effect. It evolved from a whimsical look at the string theory of creation to a personal statement about when your child goes off to war. The story goes: "In the beginning was the void out of which came the beautiful, peaceful garden. Then the people continued to fight wars which brought sorrow, death and pain. And finally, one sees the spoils of war - the bling in this Universe." This artwork is for sale by the artist. The proceeds are designated to benefit the Lakota people of the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota via the Re-Member organization (www.re-member.org). It is my way to Honor the many Native American warriors who are Veterans of the US Military.
