Whither thou goest, I will go

This work is a montage of several, individual 1:12 scale miniature; 18th century American furniture pieces juxtaposed against a contemporary background of reclaimed materials on 6”x6” birch wood cradled panels to form one art piece. The presentation of each object is purposefully eclectic and expresses the diversity of how we in the 21st century can and do live with furnishings from the 18th century. I imagine each piece of furniture saying “Whither thou goest, I will go...” The Chippendale drop front desk may be a family heirloom or a dumpster dive find. With love the pieces are given new life. I am inspired by my childhood and watching my mother, a furniture craftswoman for Kindel Furniture, talk about and share her work on the Winterthur collection of 18th century American furniture reproductions.
