I'm Not Myself

The portrait has become a formulated process. People typically enjoy seeing flattering images of themselves, but I have no interest in doing so. I portrayed myself as caricatures of personas I’ve imagined over the years: the lonely, the washed out, the creepy. I don’t recognize myself in some of these, but at the same time, I feel as though I know each character intimately. Perhaps my identity is merely a figment of my imagination.
