Currently, a work in-progress, "Recoil" is a prequel to 2012's Artprize entry, "Crime Wave" that was exhibited at the wonderful Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum. http://mattlargesculpture.com/832/ "Crime Wave" was the crime scene aftermath of a 1940's murder and was billed as a "Who Done It?". Now that we know who done it, I thought it was appropriate to show the scene that led up to the crime itself. The "Recoil" image has been meticulously welded out of hundreds of metal rods of different diameters. The shading is achieved by hand sewing layers upon layers of metal screen to create tonal values. Color will eventually be added for the pop.
