Beneath the Waves

I created a 2D underwater reef. Using four photos I took of underwater reef systems. I created a photo montage that measures 24” by 48”, printed on metallic paper and mounted on acrylic. I took thirteen different underwater fish and invertebrates, selectively cutting them out and sized. Each one has been printed as cut out acrylic. The 24' by 48' reef is held by a 3' clear acrylic stand making the total height 5'. I used varying lengths of spacers to mount the underwater life onto the reef, creating a two demential effect. All of the photos used have been taken by me through out my travels around the world. In creating this piece, I hope to show people how important is is to protect and preserve our oceans. There is so much life beneath the waves that is fragile and depends on clean water and controlled harvesting. Our oceans are a beautiful place that most people do not get to see. My artwork is is intended to educate and show the beauty and life that lies Beneath the Waves.
