Birds of a Feather

I tried to depict the new and the old together. New life and freedom of flight coming forth with the three different birds, the leaf design represents the changing of time (fall) which sets the freedom of flight in motion. Yet in the background, time passes by. This passing of time is represented in the old, manmade structures that appear in each leaf and the fact that water is not seen in the landscape, but is presumed to be there. The piece is completely wood burned and the coloration is achieved with water base exterior wood stains and then sealed with five coats of polyurethane. Layers of cabinet grade plywood was used to construct this piece.
