Now I Lay Me down to Sleep

The painting is titled, “Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep,” inspired by the children’s bedtime prayer, reminding us that we all need “our souls to keep” us safe as we unconsciously float between night terrors and peaceful slumber. This painting, just as a dream, formed itself. While finger painting a background, with no particular end result in mind, images began to appear and I followed them. I allowed the paint to run, evoking dreams that rapidly morph from one to another. The luminous and mysterious blues contrast dramatically with the vibrant orange, bright white and glittered eyes that reflect ambient light, like the sparkle of starlight, bringing the viewer into the ever-changing transience of the ephemeral journey.
